Do you do what is right or what is easy?
I would say for the biggest portion of my life, through the age of 30, I have always been an individual who has done just enough to get by. I was always cutting corners and looking for the path of least resistance. Some of you may know exactly what I am talking about, but for some maybe not. Starting back even in middle and high school I was satisfied with a B or C in a class. I could have easily worked a little bit and received a higher grade, but my motto was to exert as little effort as possible to get by and keep mom and dad from killing me. You become what you practice, so this same lackadaisical attitude started to follow me into all areas of my life, sports, college, relationships, worship for God and prayer. I once heard Suze Orman say, “Do what is right, not what is easy”. Of course, she was talking in a financial context, but it struck me as a very compelling statement. Read more
How continuing your education can pay you back
“Benefits abound for workers pursuing continuing education in certain fields, such as healthcare, business and education, experts say. Teaching continuing education and nursing continuing education seem to be the most popular today, along with continuing medical education. But the pursuit should be a lifelong occupation for everyone, no matter what their vocation.”
Attached is an article that summarizes a few career fields and how continuing education can help your career. Please note that all of the degree programs talked about in this article are available through Liberty University’s distance learning program as well. Click here for more information.
With the rising cost of gas and just about everything else, continuing your education is one thing you cannot afford to cut back on. There are still many options for financing your education that do not have to be direct expenditures out of your wallet today.
Federal student aid (Title IV) is available in the way of pell grant and, student loans, subsidized and unsubsidized. Most companies offer corporate tuition reimbursement for furthering your education, check with your human resource department. If you are a veteran or military personnel, military tuition assistance and other grants could apply to you. Also, there are a large amount of “outside” scholarships available if you know where to look for them. Liberty University Distance Learning has a website to help you with “outside” scholarships.
Know Before You Grow
What is the one thing we as Christ-followers need to know before we can grow into mature Christ-followers? As I have titled this posting, you need to know before you can grow. As I was reading in Hebrews chapter 5: 11-14 it says…
11 We have much to say about this, but it is hard to explain because you are slow to learn. 12 In fact, though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you the elementary truths of God’s word all over again. You need milk, not solid food! 13 Anyone who lives on milk, being still an infant, is not acquainted with the teaching about righteousness. 14 But solid food is for the mature, who by constant use have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil.
In verse 14 it says “to distinguish good from evil”. Are you having a problem growing and reaching the next level in your spiritual walk? If so, maybe you are still struggling with the same “elementary” things the Jewish Christ-followers were during their time…In Hebrews chapter 6:1 it refers to the elementary teaching as learning the foundation of repentance (regret for any past action) from acts that lead to death and faith in God.
Maybe your struggle to get to the next level in your spiritual walk is due to you not applying the above basics to your own daily walk with Christ. Maybe you are reluctant to move past the “religious” tradition you have learned in the past. Maybe you are still trying to blend in with your old life and friends and are not 100% committed to doing away with sinful activity in your life. There will come a time when you will have to move outside of your comfort zones because commitment to Christ does move His children outside of their comfort zone.

We are proud of the value associated with our online M.B.A. program. We keep our tuition affordable because it is part of our mission. The vision of our Chancellor, Jerry Falwell Jr., is to keep Liberty Distance Learning affordable so as many people as possible can experience a Christ-centered education, that will propel each student forward spiritually as well as professionally. Our low tuition rates still come with the same quality and curriculum that our resident students experience on campus.
