I love Shaun the Sheep…so he finally made it to my “image of the day” knitting the famous Christmas sweater we Dad’s always seem to get.  I guess it is better than colored socks.  Shaun has now made it to a permanent spot on my site, check out Shaun’s video clip of the week to the right.

Mother Not Likely to Be Charged in Newborn Death

You have to read the story below from WSET in Lynchburg, Virginia.  You have got to be kidding me that no charges will be filed for this.  Below is just a piece of the article, click the link for the full version…

Right now, it appears no crime was committed, at least as Virginia law is currently written. The law is clear when it comes to newborns. It indicates that you can’t kill what isn’t alive on its own.

In this case, because the child still had an attached umbilical chord that was still connected to the mother, under the law the baby was not alive to begin with.

All I can say is WOW!  Just because the umbilical chord was still attached.  Never mind the fact that this baby was a full term, 9 month old living human being. We have all seen or held a new born, can you imaging getting away with this just because of a loop hole in the law text.  Absolutely absurd.

What’s at your Core?

whats-at-your-core.jpgHave you ever stopped and thought about what is really at the deepest core of who you are?  I have to admit, most of the time I try to avoid getting alone with my own thoughts to the point that I ever get that deep.  However, my Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who knows exactly what I need, when I need it and exactly how to deliver it…can bring me to the point that I have to consider these “deep” thoughts.  Let’s face it, if I am unwilling to allow myself to go that deep, He can certainly bring me to the circumstances that force me to go that deep.

With that said, think about your physical core and the muscles that support your body.

Core stability is the name given to the strengthening of the corset of muscles surrounding the back and abdomen. These muscles are also known as the ‘core’ and provide a solid base upon which all other muscles can work upon to initiate movement. A comprehensive strengthening program of these core muscles can be used for injury prevention, rehabilitation and sport performance-enhancement.

When all these muscles contract together they keep the spine in its most stable position (the neutral zone), and aid in preventing injury. They are known to contract prior to any limb (arm or leg) movement and so they function in keeping the centre, or core of the body rigid during all movement.

U.S. Department of Education, getting tough on existing regulations

department-of-eduction-home-page.gifOfficials of For-Profit Colleges See Department’s Proposed Rule Changes as ‘Aggressive’
By Jennifer Gonzalez

Any thoughts that the U.S. Department of Education planned only to tweak existing regulations that affect for-profit colleges and other higher-education sectors were dashed on Monday when the agency released a draft of proposed revisions to a panel of negotiators.

Many people in higher education, especially those in the for-profit sector, were taken aback at the substantial changes proposed, with some calling the move “aggressive” and “surprisingly strong.”

The panel, whose members include federal officials and representatives of institutions and associations affected by the regulations, has been charged with re-examining 14 rules in a process known as negotiated rule-making.
