One night I was reading my American Girl book when I fell asleep and that is when the strangest thing happened…When I woke up, I was sitting on a straw mat next to Kirsten Larson, the little girl in my book, who moved to the American Frontier in 1854. I tapped on her and she woke up.  Right away we became great friends.  We went downstairs and ate breakfast with Peter, Mama, Papa, and Lars.

After breakfast, I helped her with her chores.  We collected eggs and fed the chickens.

We climbed in the hay barn and took care of the pony.  And then we hung up the laundry on the line.  We even played with her bunny.  Then we went to Kirsten’s fort.  There we played with our dolls, took a nap on the mat in the shade, and pretended to have a tea party.

We chased a chicken away from the fort because she was trying to come in.  When we caught the chicken, we put her in a wooden crate.

Mama showed us how to prepare the chicken for dinner that night.  I even got to help pull off the feathers and help hold the tools.  Later, we climbed a tree together.  Then Mama called us in to eat dinner.  We ate chicken soup and sour dough bread with fresh butter from the cow.  That night, I asked Kirsten’s Mama if I could spend the night.  That night I fell asleep with Kirsten and in the morning I was back at home in Lynchburg, Virginia.
