Stormy Days

living-vision-logo_no-words2.jpgEveryday has the potential to be a storm.  Some days “life” just happens.  Our days do not always go as planned or our “to-do” list is longer at the end of the day then at the beginning and the pressures of life just build up.  During these days are when we have a tendency to lower the bar we have set or to let our values drop a bit to get by.  I mentioned in an email a few months ago, that you as Directors, have an added responsibility to hold the bar high for your staff.  We as humans tend to move toward what we see in our minds, and what we typically see in our minds is the way we live our life daily.  You will tend to respond to those stormy days the way you live your life or the way you “train” yourself daily.

How do you train yourself daily to be ready for these stormy days that we all experience? You have to focus your mind daily on a positive thought process. And yes, I am certainly talking to myself here. We have to start each day and set our attitude to expect good things to happen to us and to set our mind in the right direction. If we think negative thoughts we can expect defeat, failure or mediocrity on those stormy days. No matter what we have faced or experienced yesterday, today is a new day and we can either face it with a positive start or a negative start. I can guarantee God wants to do new things with you and I today and He does not want us to start it with a defeated attitude. It truly is a spiritual battle for our minds between light and darkness. Satan wants you starting everyday feeling frustrated, defensive, impatient and hopeless. Chose today to have the right positive mind set in all the areas of your life, mentally, physically, emotionally and spiritually. Be prepared for a storm that could hit you in any of these four fronts on any given day. Remember, the way you train yourself daily in these four areas is the way you will typically respond during the time of the storm. Condition yourself to respond positively and set your mind in the right direction so when the storm comes it is a “natural” reaction to respond the right way because you have trained you mind that way.

Pray: We have a lot of changes coming over the next several months that will affect a large portion of our staff. We as leaders need to be in constant prayer for them and the effect that this will have on them. We need to be in prayer for each other and how we help our staff through these changes. We need to make sure we pray that we respond and approach these changes in a way that is honoring to God.

Focus: Focus your mind daily on a positive thought process. Expect good things to happen today. Focus on having a healthy life style that will prepare you mentally, physically, emotionally and spiritually for the battle of our minds that happens every day. You have to stay focus because Satan will try to hit you in any of these areas as soon as you drop the bar, even for a minute.

Execute: “To perform or carry out what is required”…We all know that we have to execute and accomplish growth for DLP. However, it comes down to, did you execute things today that hold you together with God…love for others, obedience to Him, and prayer. Or did you execute things that will separate you from Him…our own human desires or a negative approach to today.
