The Accelerated Moral Decline of Our Country
As I continue to watch the nightly talk news TV shows such as CNN or Fox News, as well as listen to talk radio driving in my car, it is increasingly depressing seeing the rapid direction our country is quickly taking. Everyday, I just ponder…”What in the world are people thinking”. Billy Currington’s country song has it right, “God is great…and people are crazy”. If you don’t believe me, just manage or lead people in any capacity and you will quickly come to the same conclusion. We all know that our country has been on a moral decline for decades; however in the past year things seem to have hit a new accelerated pace with the decisions coming from leadership. What should I or you expect when our leadership has made appointments such as Kevin Jennings, Safe School Czar, who’s past as a school teacher is anything but “safe” for our children. Or the celebrating of the 60th anniversary by the Empire State Building as it illuminated in red and yellow to celebrate China’s 1949 communist revolution…only one of the bloody Communist uprising in our world’s history. Or how much of Europe and the Hollywood community portray Roman Polanski as a wayward genius who has fallen victim to American bigotry; instead of the rapist he is.
The list goes on and on, these type items are just in the news this week. These types of depressing stories go on week after week. As a Christian, it becomes even more imperative to have a voice as the moral decline of this country picks up momentum. The only way this decline can be stopped is by changing one heart at a time. Only God can change a heart, but it is our responsibility to share what God can do through your own God given story, your testimony. Nothing is more powerful than a real life story with real life change. One of the most convincing, unanswerable arguments on earth regarding Christianity is one’s personal experience with the Lord Jesus Christ. No persuasive technique will ever take the place of your personal testimony.
